We placed a mesmerizing, loose diamond on the back of a hand to show off its incredible brilliance and massive spread, and asked a simple question: “Guess the size of the diamond?”
As our Master Jeweler stepped in to reveal, this phenomenal gemstone is a staggering 3-carat diamond.
But a diamond of this magnitude doesn't just sit in a vault. It demands to be worn, celebrated, and set into a piece of jewelry that matches its grandeur. Today, we are pulling back the curtain on our custom design process to show you exactly how we are transforming this loose diamond into a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary gift right here in our Arden-Arcade studio.
The Vision: A Deeply Personal Anniversary Gift
When our client came to us, he knew he wanted to create an unforgettable anniversary present for his wife. He didn't want something off the shelf; he wanted a bespoke piece of fine jewelry that carried deep personal meaning.
Together, we conceptualized a pendant based on her initials: "JJ". The design needed to be elegant and flowing, but structurally sound enough to safely cradle the massive 3-carat center stone.
From Concept to the Bench
The beauty of custom jewelry lies in the details. Once the design was finalized on paper, it was time to move to the jeweler's bench.
Creating custom typography out of precious metals requires meticulous hand-fabrication. In the image, you can see our master jeweler beginning the intricate wire work, carefully bending and shaping the foundation of the piece to match the precise curvature of the "JJ" design. This is where raw materials first begin to take on a life of their own.
